The Securities and Futures Commission in Hong Kong has recently launched a consultation on proposed guidelines for market soundings. The objective of this consultation is to bring clarity to regulatory expectations and assist intermediaries in their compliance with the general principles for conducting market soundings in capital market transactions honestly, fairly, and in the best interests of their clients and the integrity of the market. Tongshang Hong Kong is pleased to announce the appointment of David Ting as a Senior Consultant who heads up our Global Private Wealth and Family Office practice. David has more than 16 years of experience working with leading investment banks, private banks, law firms, high-net-worth individuals and family offices. He specializes in setting up, reorganizing, and managing family trusts and family offices.

Prior to joining Tongshang Hong Kong, David served as the head of strategic development and senior legal counsel at two of the most prominent family offices in Greater China over the past 5 years. Furthermore, David has previous experience in corporate finance, having worked at leading international investment bank and two international law firms. David has also gained hands-on experience in the private banking sector, adding to his comprehensive skill set. His diverse background enables him to provide holistic and all-rounded solutions to clients.

Partner, Brandon Chow, and Senior Associates, Winnie Tang and Jessie Cheung, who have passed the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) Legal Examination 2023. After obtaining a Greater Bay Area lawyer practice licence, a GBA lawyer will be qualified to practise in the nine Mainland municipalities in the GBA.

Brandon joined Tongshang Hong Kong in 2019 and was promoted to Partner in 2022. With over 11 years of experience in the legal industry, Brandon has earned a strong reputation among clients. His exceptional performance has earned him recognition as Hong Kong's Rising Star for 2023 by Asian Legal Business. Most recently, he is ranked as a “Rising Star Partner” by IFLR1000 for his exceptional performance in 2023.

Winnie and Jessie both practised for almost 10 years in corporate finance and have advised on a number of complex mergers and acquisitions, as well as initial public offerings, in the market. Their expertise and experience make them highly valuable assets in this field.

With the addition of Brandon, Winnie and Jessie, together with our Managing Partner, Eric Chow, who passed the inaugural Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Legal Examination, Tongshang Hong Kong now has four lawyers who are qualified to practise PRC law (civil and commercial legal matters) in the GBA.
